North America’s largest eco-business zone gets greener with new Business Ambassador

Partners in Project Green’s Business Ambassadors make up a select community of companies being recognized for best-in-class efforts in transforming the employment lands surrounding Toronto Pearson airport into an internationally recognized eco-business zone. G4S Secure Solutions Canada has joined this community of excellence working together to create a world class eco-business zone.

G4S Secure Solutions Canada has shown its commitment to sustainability. Globally G4S measures carbon emissions with the aim to reduce carbon intensity. Corporate goals are to reduce annual carbon intensity measured against revenue by 4.5% each year from 2010 to 2012. 

Areas of measurement include:  electricity, gas and heating in all premises, gas usage, airline travel and the use of refrigerants.  Additionally, G4S has switched to smaller, more fuel efficient vehicles in its mobile response fleet. G4S is committed to reducing its use of paper products. 

G4S has partnered with Monster Canada to develop an online hiring tool that encourages electronic applications. G4S has replaced paper paystubs in Canada with epost. This is significant as G4S has over 10,000 employees in Canada. 

Similarly, G4S is encouraging it’s over 2,000 customers across Canada to accept e-billing.  G4S has developed an incident management system for our security professionals that use a handheld mobile device instead of the traditional paper reporting processes that are common in the industry. 

Partners in Project Green are honoured to include G4S Secure Solutions Canada in the growing roster of environmental leaders in the Pearson Eco-Business Zone, which includes other green business leaders such as GTAA, Woodbine Entertainment Group and Unilever.

As a Business Ambassador, G4S Secure Solutions Canada gains access to dedicated business advisory services such as assistance in identifying service providers, coordinating regulatory and stakeholder meetings, and advancing company specific eco-business opportunities.

Through their leadership as a Business Ambassador, G4S Secure Solutions Canada has committed to continuing their march towards sustainability and working with other companies in the Pearson Eco-Business Zone to reduce their costs and identify new business opportunities from sustainability.
